When the evenings draw in and the heath turns amber, Blackheath does Halloween properly. This year the village and its neighbours are putting on a full week of half-term frights and family fun, from pumpkin carving on the parade to a spooky circus, a vampire comedy and a sing-a-long in fancy dress. Whether you've got little monsters to entertain or you fancy a night out in costume, here's our round-up of Halloween events in and around Blackheath for 2026.

Family half-term fun

Kick off the Halloween week with Pumpkin Carving at The Depot in Kidbrooke Village on Saturday 24 October, 3pm to 6pm. Each £15 ticket gets you a pumpkin and the tools to carve it, with a cosy pub atmosphere and plenty of space for little ones to get creative. Book ahead on the DesignMyNight page.

Running right across the half-term week, from Saturday 24 October to Sunday 1 November, is the Halloween Half-Term Funfair on Blackheath. Botton's Family Funfairs bring thrill rides, kids' rides and fun and games to SE3 0UA, open daily from 1pm to 8pm. Entry is free and rides are pay-as-you-go, so you can dip in and out. It's easy to reach by bus (54, 202, 380, 386) or a short walk from Blackheath station.

Over at Woolwich Works, Half Term and Halloween runs across the weekend with a packed family programme. Highlights include a tribute to a favourite vampire TV show, family theatre with There's A Monster in Your Show (Saturday 24 October, 2pm) and the award-winning kids' comedy Out of the Box (Sunday 25 October, 11am). It's a brilliant one-stop destination if you're entertaining children of different ages.

For budding young artists, Cygnets Art School's Magic & Mischief October Half Term Workshops run from Monday 27 October at both the Kingswood Halls in Dacre Park and the G-West Gallery in Greenwich. Each session is a complete art project, perfect for keeping creative hands busy over the break.

Also on Monday 27 October, catch Olaf Falafel's Stupidest Super Stupid Show at the Ropekeepers Studio, Woolwich Works (11am), the award-winning children's comedy fresh from the Edinburgh Fringe.

On Thursday 30 October, Tiptoes & Tappers bring a spooktacular Halloween-themed dance and tap workshop for children to Mycenae House, and on Halloween itself the Comedy Club 4 Kids lands at Blackheath Halls (2pm) for an afternoon of family-friendly laughs.

Round off the morning of the 31st with the Little Monsters Breakfast Banquet at The Ivy Cafe Blackheath on Montpelier Vale, a frightfully fun family breakfast with seasonal treats.

Blackheath Conservatoire on Lee Road is running a full day of family workshops on Saturday 31 October: Dotty Pumpkins – Family Class (9.30am, ages 3+) is an interactive art class inspired by Yayoi Kusama where children and their adults paint and sculpt polka-dot clay pumpkins, Menacing Masks and Trick or Treat Totes (1.30pm, ages 5+) lets children make spooky masks and custom tote bags, and Halloween House Hangings (1.30pm to 4.30pm, ages 4+) is a seasonal crafting session making decorations to hang at home. Each adult and child needs their own ticket, and all three can be booked online at the Conservatoire shop: Dotty Pumpkins, Menacing Masks and Halloween House Hangings, or call 020 8852 0234.

Over at the Royal Observatory in Greenwich, Half-Term Activities begin on Saturday 24 October (10am) with astronomy talks and family-friendly spooky tours running through the break.

A touch of Greenwich gothic
