Blackheath Tea Hut
About
Standing on the summit of Blackheath since 1924, the Blackheath Tea Hut is a beloved local landmark and one of London's last true roadside tea huts.
This pastel blue kiosk serves up tea, coffee, bacon baps, burgers and hot food throughout the day, with the legendary quarter pounder with pineapple a firm favourite among regulars. The hut is a gathering point for bikers, taxi drivers, NHS workers and joggers alike — a place where everyone looks out for each other and instant camaraderie is guaranteed.
The hut is dog-friendly with outdoor seating and specially drilled cup holders in the tables to stop your tea from blowing away. It's affordable, unpretentious and perfectly tailored to its clientele — you won't find crushed avocado here, but you will find a warm welcome and a strong cuppa.
A Survivor of the Heath
In January 2020, the original hut was destroyed in a car accident. Thanks to a community Crowdfunder and the determination of its loyal patrons, the tea hut reopened and continues to serve the community that has kept it alive for over a century.
Counting celebrities such as Jarvis Cocker and Jools Holland among its patrons, the Blackheath Tea Hut remains a beacon on the heath — calling all weary travellers to its counter.
